Follow along as we travel with three kiddos, three pups and a bearded dragon from NC to Kodiak, Alaska.

  • Banff, AB to Jasper, AB

Thursday, June 20th- Reluctantly left our beautiful view in Banff National Park. Not before going on a walk and hanging out with a colony of gophers (at least that’s what our camping neighbor said they were). Hit the road for Jasper on the Icefields Parkway. I am sure it’s amazing and terrifying in winter, and Read more

  • Wednesday 6/19- Before leaving the park, we had a fossil safari guided tour through the restricted area of the Nature preserve. Started off a little boring (per Joey and Obi) but by the end they had a great time. Joey found two newly uncovered bones (potentially T-rex) according to the paleontologist. It was the first Read more

  • Monday 6/17- said ‘See ya later’ to Yellowstone and headed to our last stop before entering Canada. Rainy day but a nice short drive. I was able to work a little bit while the kids played, and Joey took the truck to the dealership for a tune-up. Ended the night at a local sushi place Read more

  • Sunday June 16th- Started the day with a Daddy’s day brekkie of sausage, eggs, and toast. Hit the road for Yellowstone. Saa Barney five’s car on the drive at a stoplight. The guy was super thrilled i was taking hia picture. Wind slowed us down quite a bit, but we arrived around 430 and were Read more

  • Saturday- Visited Mt. Rushmore up close before heading out of the campground. Didn’t leave before Lia pet the horses.  Joey promised that when we get done with coast guard life he would buy her a “white horsey”. Documenting it here as proof he said it 😅. Realized mid-day that it was June 15th and our Read more

  • Decided to start documenting the next day so I’m not having to stay up late post. We left off yesterday (Friday) after the Corn Palace. Had a shorter drive (5 hours) so we worked in a few stops. First was Wall Drug, the “JR’s” of South Dakota. Glad we saw it but something you only Read more

  • Thursday- Long driving day from Missouri. Started the day a little slower than anticipated and found two more new tires that fit the camper. Drove through Kansas City, Iowa, and Nebraska. It’s amazing how flat it is between the hills. The kids did much better today and they had some fun at the playground before Read more

  • Missouri day retake

Good day in Missouri, recovering from yesterday’s fiasco. Had lunch with Uncle Randy and Aunt Sheila, worked some during nap time using my new Travelfi hotspot (hoping this helps with the kids while driving too), then took the kids to Whiteman AFB to swim before dinner. Ended the night at Coltons /Phantom distillery with the Read more

  • What a day. We said goodbye to Nashville and  met ‘Almost Willie’ at a gas station on the way out (#1 Willie Nelson impersonator whether or not that’s a self-proclaimed title,  I’m not sure. 😆 We bumped through Kentucky (0/5 stars for KY roads, do not recommend), and saw the Tennessee River. Things took a turn Read more

  • Hard start to the day as we left NC. Found what looked like the shire and was tempted to hide out and skip Alaska.  Quick stop at Bucees to see what the hype is about with beaver gas. Our takeaways of Bucees: busy, good brisket sandwich, way more  beaver memorabilia than anyone needs, awesome glazes Read more
