Thursday, June 20th-
Reluctantly left our beautiful view in Banff National Park. Not before going on a walk and hanging out with a colony of gophers (at least that’s what our camping neighbor said they were). Hit the road for Jasper on the Icefields Parkway. I am sure it’s amazing and terrifying in winter, and I can’t imagine driving it. We had zero phone service for the entire Parkway, which is a little unnerving while pulling a camper with kids. Made a stop at Peyto lake to stretch our legs. We took Bones but left the old pups in the truck, and we were glad we did as it was quite an uphill hike. It wasn’t very far, but by the end, Joey was pushing Ozzie and Lia in the Stoller while carrying Obi on his back. Meanwhile, I’m just trying to make it up the hill with Bones and not have Joey have to carry me too. 🥲😅 The view ended up being 1000% worth it. I didn’t edit the color of the photos at all; according to research, the lake is so blue from glacial rock flour and light refraction. We were pretty amazed. After Bones saw another dog and went bonkers, terrorizing everyone in a 5 mile radius, we hiked back down and headed for Jasper. Went to the bathroom for 2 minutes and came out to Joey and his pet Raven. Pulled into the campground and had a nice view but nothing in comparison to Banff. Headed to Grand Prairie next, our last stop in Alberta Canada. -L
